Following a contentious Test match in the Ashes series between the two nations that shook the typically polite cricket world, the prime leaders of the United Kingdom and Australia got into a verbal altercation in London.

Following Australia's 2-0 lead on Sunday, the political leaders entered the argument and threw jabs amid accusations of poor sportsmanship, cheating, and verbal abuse.

First to respond was British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who dispatched a spokesman to denounce the dismissal of English batsman Jonny Bairstow for being stumped during what he apparently believed to be a break in play.

The ejection of Bairstow, according to Sunak's representative, was just unsportsmanlike.

"The prime minister agrees with (England captain) Ben Stokes who said he simply wouldn't want to win a game in the manner that Australia did," the statement reads.
As a fervent cricket supporter, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese responded on Tuesday by stating that he was "proud" of Australia's "men's and women's cricket teams, who have both won their opening two Ashes matches against England."
On Thursday, the third Test begins at Headingley, where Australia will attempt to win the prized Ashes series away from home.

Brendon McCullum, the England coach, also thinks the incident might serve as a catalyst for a comeback in the series.

They must accept the fact that they made a play in the end. We would have chosen a different course of action, but such is life, the former New Zealand skipper remarked.

We'll know in due course, but I have a hunch it could have an impact on them.

"Our unit is galvanised, but I'm not sure if it's fury. As a coach, there are moments when you must control your emotions because they will eventually boil up and force you to make bad choices, but

He said, "Same old Aussies — always winning!" "(I) look forward to receiving them when they return triumphant."

Sunak, a cricket enthusiast, shared a viewing spot with Prince William at Lord's on Saturday and expressed her regret for the insults aimed at the Australian team by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) members.

The MCC membership of three people has been put on hold until an inquiry is conducted.

To avoid a repeat of the major diplomatic tensions caused by England's "Bodyline" tactics in the historic 1932–33 Ashes Down Under, Sunak does not intend to lodge a formal protest with Albanese.

Even if the two presidents have a "friendly rivalry" over sports, Sunak does not see cricket as a crucial diplomatic issue, the official said.

After Ben Stokes produced a scorching 155 in his second innings despite his team coming 44 runs short of victory, he said, "The game did provide an opportunity to see Ben Stokes at his best and it was an incredible Test match. He has confidence that England will bounce back."

'Galvanised'
"I thought that this feeling helped the side in that way. I saw that the males were a little agitated as I looked around the group. If that helps us to win those key moments in the next Test, then I'm all for it."

ex-captain Geoffrey Boycott of England
