According to Pakistani cricketer Tayyab Tahir, who was a key player in his nation's Emerging Asia Cup triumph against India, this piece of advise from national captain Babar Azam was the reason for his steady performance at the crease in the match's final on Sunday.

The Pakistan Shaheens, headed by Mohammad Haris, defeated India A by 128 runs in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to win the Emerging Asia Cup.

The best ODI hitter in the world, Babar, advised 29-year-old Tayyab, who recorded an outstanding century, to keep his composure and relax while batting in order to ensure success.

He was also named Sunday's Player of the Match for his abrasive effort.

"He (Babar) advised me to maintain my composure. Just have fun with the game, he said.
He is undoubtedly a professional athlete with much experience in games like these. He also predicted that we would win the game easily, and that is what transpired.

Tahir also discussed his final-round strategy.

I simply reminded myself to remain on the crease. I was aware that the more runs I can score the longer I stay in the crease. The strategy employed here was effective.

"No one enters the grave considering a hundred. In your 90s, you naturally begin to play more cautiously, but I reminded myself that this was a huge game and I needed to score big as well, he said.

Tahir concluded by thanking his family.
Tahir led the assault against Indian bowlers and hit 108 runs with the help of 12 fours and four sixes at an outstanding strike-rate of 152.11. Pakistan was in a difficult position after losing five wickets for just 187 runs.

India A were eliminated for just 224 runs in 40 overs while chasing a goal of 353.

The Men in Blue were in serious danger thanks to spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who claimed three crucial wickets, including opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored 61, skipper Yash Dull, who was placed at 39 off 41, and Harshit Rana, 13, while giving up 66 runs in 10 overs.
