Spanish attacker Rodrigo has sealed his transfer from Leeds United to Qatari team Al Rayyan, albeit the financial terms of the deal have not been made public. The 32-year-old made his debut for Leeds in 2020, switching from Valencia for a rumoured £26 million transfer price, and emerged as the team's best scorer last season with 15 goals.

Rodrigo's contract, which had just one year left at Elland Road, featured a release clause that was activated by Al Rayyan of Qatar's 12-team QNB Stars League. Rodrigo made 97 appearances for Leeds during his tenure there and scored 28 goals. Despite playing for Spain's national team throughout their victorious Nations League campaign, Rodrigo did not make an appearance as a substitute in the championship game versus

Following Leeds United's relegation to the Championship, Rodrigo is the latest player to leave the team. Along with the defenders Diego Llorente and Robin Koch, this also contains American midfielder Brenden Aaronson. While Llorente, 29, has rejoined his previous team Roma in Italy, Aaronson, 22, has signed with Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga. Koch, 26, has chosen to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan inside the Bundesliga.

Daniel Farke, the former manager of Norwich City, was recently hired by Leeds United, making headlines. As the team works to make a successful comeback from relegation to the Premier League, Farke has committed to a four-year deal with the organisation.

Rodrigo's departure is a major shift for both.
