On July 24, 200, at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground in Colombo, rain postponed the start of the first day of the last cricket Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Tuesday's second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was cancelled owing to a lengthy period of precipitation, as rain played spoiler and put an end to the game for the day.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) tweeted, "No play possible in the second session as bad weather continues to cause a delay."

Pakistan had a 12-run lead over the hosts before the weather stopped their momentum, necessitating an early lunch during the morning session.

When rain started falling in Colombo, the Green Caps were 178-2, with Babar Azam scoring 28 runs and Abdullah Shafique batting on 87.

After bowling the hosts out for 166 runs in two sessions on Monday at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Pakistan assumed control of the second Test.

The team captained by Babar, who is leading the two-match series 1-0, batted quickly to strengthen their position and finished the first day on 145-2.

Earlier, when skipper Dimuth Karunaratne chose to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka failed to perform well with the bat.

The top order for Sri Lanka was damaged by Naseem Shah (3-41) and Shaheen Afridi (1-44) as the host team fell to 36-4.

With 57 points, Dhananjaya de Silva led all scorers for Sri Lanka, although only two of his colleagues reached double figures.

By using direct throws to dismiss both Prabath Jayasuriya and Nishan Madushka, Pakistan's fielding performance improved.

When Pakistan entered the batting order, they quickly scored.

Imam-ul-Haq, who batted first, scored six before being caught at gully, but Shafique and Masood (51) established a quick 108-run partnership to keep the visitors in charge.

Masood mishit a draw shot, giving Asitha Fernando his second wicket.
