According to the authorities, a white Toyota Hiace was travelling to Kot Momin when a gas leak caused the fuel-filled, subpar LPG cylinder to burst. After the explosion, the van's driver allegedly fled the area.

Shahid Safdar, the head constable of Kot Momin Police Station and one of the van's injured passengers, said that he was travelling to work in the tragic vehicle.

He claimed that about 8:30 am, as he was seated on the van's front seat, the cylinder exploded.

Safdar, who claimed to have gotten out of the van right away, was fortunate to do so safely. He did, however, incur some minor wounds.
