Elmont, New York It's only natural that history was created 50 years after Secretariat's Triple Crown-clinching Belmont Stakes victory. Because the sound of the glass roof in horse racing breaking was mingled with the noise of the Belmont Park crowd early on Saturday evening.

Jena Antonucci, the horse's trainer, became the first woman to ever win the Belmont Stakes and the first to win a Triple Crown event when Arcangelo snuck through on the rail and passed pace-setting Preakness victor National Treasure to cross the finish line first.

She is just the 11th female jockey in the 155-year history of the Belmont Stakes.

Arcangelo ran 112 lengths ahead of the field after winning the Grade 3 Peter Pan at Belmont Park last month.
