New Netflix Film Examines Queer Life in a Growing Nazi Germany

 On June 28, 2023, the documentary Eldorado - Everything the Nazis Hate, is coming to Netflix. 

The movie analyses the liberties lost during Hitler's ascent to power while telling the tale of how a nightclub in 1920s Berlin became a safe haven for the LGBTQ community.

In his explanation of the story's motivation, director Benjamin Cantu says, "We wanted to highlight gay lives that took place in Berlin and who experienced the transition from the Weimar Republic to National Socialism. We wanted to demonstrate how homosexuality was characterised at the time from several perspectives, including social, scientific, and political. 

"At that time, discussing homosexuality in such a broad and open manner was entirely novel. The Nazis as well as other parties used the subject for political purposes.
